Infants
12 weeks to 18 months:
During the first 3 years of life, the brain undergoes its most dramatic development and children acquire the ability to think, speak, learn, and reason. (National Centre for Infants, Toddlers and Families, 2011)
To ensure a healthy development of our child, our center uses the Emergent Curriculum based on children interest and developmental needs. The key developmental domains focused on are:
Social / Emotional
Cognitive
Physical
Language
Self-help and adaptions
Our Infant Program starts at the early age of 12 weeks through to 18 months. Glenashton Daycare’s small group sizes allow our parents to gain a personal relationship with the teaching staff. Your child’s personalized daily schedule allows our team to know your child unique needs and create a home away from home environment for your child. A variety of open ended materials, stuffed animals, pull and push equipment, and music is available as infants grasp new ideas, discover language, crawling and walking, all while growing into little independent people.
Transitions are available to our families to allow for an easier process from the home to our childcare environment. Once your child is enrolled at our facility he/she is granted a spot in all of our other programs (Toddlers, Preschoolers, before/after care) providing peace of mind to our parents. Glenashton Daycare Centre has an open door policy for our families to visit or call us at anytime.
